Why Does Pride Matter in Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy is all about supporting people to live fully—building autonomy, well-being, and participation in everyday life (WFOT, 2022). To do this well, we need to see and support the whole person, including their sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (Stonewall, 2023). LGBTQIA+ folks often face systemic barriers that affect mental health, healthcare access, and social inclusion—areas where OTs can and do make a real impact (HRC, 2024).
