Although we weren’t in Boston, we remained connected with OT practitioners from all over during our first-ever online conference with 225 registrants! The COTAD Live! online conference was an all-day event, featuring our 6th Annual COTAD Breakfast keynote speaker Dr. Varleisha Gibbs, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, breakout group discussions, and dialogue about current challenges and opportunities related to diversity and inclusion in occupational therapy.

There were also several surprises during the online event, such as the announcement of the winners of the 2020 COTAD Awards, raffles for COTAD T-shirts, and a giveaway of lunch with a COTAD Board Member!

Several days prior to the virtual conference, COTAD-ED leaders also hosted a Virtual Lunch with 150 registrants. Occupational therapy educators from a wide variety of programs asked questions, shared information, and discussed their roles and responsibilities as leaders and teachers for the next generation of clinicians.
This event was also our biggest fundraiser to date, as we received $650 in donations from supporters and attendees! We are thankful for the opportunity we had to work towards achieving our goals of increasing awareness and equipping OT educators, practitioners, and students across the country and around the world to develop cultural humility and explore issues in diversity for OT clients and clinicians. We hope to see you at other COTAD events during the AOTA Annual Conference & Expo in San Diego next year!
