2020 COTAD Community Project Raises Over $1300 for Women in Need

Since mid-2019, a dedicated team of occupational therapy students and new grads collaborated to create the 1st Annual COTAD Community Event to benefit Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter and community center in Boston, MA. The event was a huge success, raising over $1,351 for the shelter and donating about 1,364 toiletries, games, and tools – enough to make hundreds of wellness kits for women in need.

Throughout this process, the OT students and practitioners working on this project gained valuable professional skills, such as communication, time management, and event coordination. They also received support from COTAD leaders and were able to gain valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges presented with the planning and execution of a nationwide fundraising event.

Additionally, there was an element of competition as the first annual COTAD Chapter Challenge took place in connection with the community project! Western New England University's COTAD Chapter emerged on top with their donation of 53 wellness kits!

Although the planned on-site donation drive and delivery was thwarted by the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we would like to congratulate the 2019-2020 COTAD Community team on their efforts and wish them luck on future projects.

Thanks again to the community sponsors for the 2020 COTAD Community event!
